ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Camille!

I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama by my loving family. I played the violin for eight years, acted for two, and learned to sew (which I still do to this day). Even though I loved having these creative outlets, I found true passion in volunteer work. I joined Key Club in Highschool to make friends and ended up becoming the treasurer, a district representative, and a liaison to our local Kiwanis Club. Due to my community involvement, I was selected as a participant in the Alabama Youth Leadership Development Program, which I received a scholarship to Auburn University through.

At Auburn, I searched for something I was passionate about that would allow me to help others. I began the Sustainability Studies minor in 2020 because of my concerns for the environment and then later found the Nuclear Power Generations Systems minor to learn more about alternative energy sources. These minors helped me transition into majoring in Biosystems Engineering in order to develop sustainable and resilient solutions to life's challenges: food, water, energy, environment, and health.

The world is facing a climate catastrophe that results in inequalities for many worldwide. I hope to leave the world better than I found it and educate others on the environmental issues we face. There are a lot of problems in our world, but there are a lot more creative people who can offer the solutions necessary - they just need a voice and confidence to do so.

Leadership

Residential Assistant

RAs are responsible for building community within on campus housing, mediating resident conflict, and encouraging healthy habits. Being an RA means being available to help residents understand University policies and procedures and encourage residents to get involved on campus. As an RA, I am responsible for planning and hosting programs, talking with residents about events occurring on campus, monitory safety and security in the halls, and assisting students in adjusting to campus living. For the academic year of 2020-2021, I was awarded program and bulletin board of the year for my area.

Center for Inclusive Engineering Excellence

The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering Center for Inclusive Engineering Excellence helps to promote diversity within the Auburn University student body. The goal of this program is to strengthen recruitment and retention of underrepresented students within engineering. CIEE supports participants with profession development workshops, collaborative study groups and one-on-one peer learning. Within CIEE, I serve as an Ambassador on the Peer Mentoring Committee. On this committee, I served on a team that organized the pairing of students in the program with mentors in order to create better connections.

North American Young Generation in Nuclear

NAYGN is an organization that helps young nuclear enthusiasts to develop leadership and professional skills, create connections, engage and inform the public and inspire today's nuclear technology professionals to meet 21st century challenges. Within this organization, I act as the Lead Chair for Auburn University's chapter.
